Summer Internship - Software Engineering Consultant - 2027 (Software)

Location: Melbourn, Royston, UK; onsite at hirify.global's campus south of Cambridge

What you will do

• Contribute to live client and internal software and technology projects during an 8–10 week summer placement.
• Apply engineering knowledge to solve complex real-world problems and explore new technology areas.
• Build prototypes in the lab and support multidisciplinary teams developing products and technologies.
• Work with consultants from engineering, computer science, physics, and biology backgrounds.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders while developing commercial understanding and leadership skills.

Requirements

• Currently studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with a minimum expected 2:1 degree classification.
• Strong A-Levels or equivalent qualifications, such as IB qualifications.
• At least two years of the degree must be completed by the start of the internship; students beginning their second year may apply.
• Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, inventiveness, rigorous first-principles thinking, and interest in how things work.
• Commercial awareness, entrepreneurial drive, proactive ownership, collaboration, emotional intelligence, and clear communication of technical ideas.
• Ability to think strategically and systemically, navigate ambiguity, and consider the commercial aspects of technology product development.

Hiring process
