Engineering Manager, Foundations (Backend)

Location: Stockholm, Sweden; 5 days per week in the office

What you will do

• Lead, hire, mentor, and develop a team of backend engineers at all levels.
• Design and implement high-scale core backend services and APIs supporting the Legora platform.
• Own team health by keeping engineers efficient, unblocked, and positioned to do their best work.
• Set standards for code quality, security, system design, backend engineering, and service design.
• Lead architecture discussions and technical decisions for foundational systems.
• Collaborate with product engineering teams and contribute directly to the codebase.

Requirements

• Seasoned full-stack or backend engineering background with 1–3 years of leadership experience.
• Deep experience building and operating high-scale distributed systems and core platform services.
• End-to-end ownership of systems from design through production reliability.
• Experience with Node, Azure, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Strong communication, empathy, mentoring ability, and a high standard for correctness and resilience.
• Willingness to work in the Stockholm office five days per week.
