Research Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: Amsterdam, with relocation possible, or remote

Quantitative research and production trading organization building infrastructure for research throughput and deployment.

What you will do

• Design and build the research platform from scratch, including its architecture and core abstractions.
• Create reproducible environments and deployment workflows that connect research with production.
• Define APIs, artifact formats, data contracts, and promotion gates between research and production.
• Build a unified data layer for integrating and consuming market and alternative data sources.
• Develop backtesting and simulation infrastructure and measure deviations between backtested and live results.
• Work with researchers to identify bottlenecks and turn them into reliable platform capabilities.

Requirements

• Experience designing and building platform architecture and core abstractions.
• Ability to develop APIs, data contracts, deployment workflows, and reproducible environments.
• Experience with data integration, backtesting, simulation, or research infrastructure.
• Ability to make pragmatic build-versus-buy decisions and optimize for research velocity, reliability, and adoption.
• Ability to design deterministic, self-describing, machine-readable interfaces for researchers and AI agents.
