External Affairs, South Korea (AI)

Location: Seoul, South Korea. Hybrid policy: staff are expected to work from an office at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more office time.

What you will do

• Lead Anthropic’s public policy engagement and build its policy presence in South Korea from the ground up.
• Map Korean AI policy stakeholders and develop relationships with government officials, researchers, think tanks, civil society leaders, and non-profit organizations.
• Analyze legislation and regulatory proposals, develop engagement strategies, and prepare policy submissions, responses, and memos.
• Brief policymakers and other stakeholders on AI safety and policy opportunities in the Korean context.
• Plan and execute policy campaigns, workshops, panels, and other convening activities focused on AI safety and governance.
• Collaborate with policy and technical teams to translate AI research into policy proposals, stakeholder education, and thought leadership.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience in government, technology, legal, or other policy-relevant environments is preferred.
• Track record of effective advocacy with Korean government authorities and experience engaging in regulatory processes.
• Experience analyzing legislation and developing complex policy campaigns and operational plans.
• Ability to translate complex technical topics into accessible information for policymakers, civil society, and think tanks.
• Fluency in Korean and English required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

• Academic or think tank experience in AI policy or related fields.
• Experience in both government and private-sector roles.
• Familiarity with intelligence and security cooperation frameworks.
