TL;DR
Trade Compliance Specialist (Customs and Export Control): Supporting the classification of goods, software, and technology for international imports and exports with an accent on EU, US, and Czech trade controls, customs regulations, and SAP GTS master data. Focus on reviewing ECN/ECCN and HTS classifications, handling sanctions and embargo screening, and advising business teams on regulatory compliance.

Location: Ostrava, Czechia; hybrid arrangement with the possibility to work from home.

What you will do

  • Classify goods, software, and technologies for import, export, shipment, and customs declarations.
  • Review ECN/ECCN and HTS classifications with the Czech Trade team.
  • Maintain ECN/ECCN and HTS master data in SAP GTS.
  • Analyze upcoming deliveries and identify products requiring classification, especially during regulatory changes.
  • Advise on international trade, customs regulations, import/export processes, and indirect tax considerations.
  • Provide backup support for sanctions and embargo screening and maintain current regulatory knowledge.

Requirements

  • High school or university degree, or relevant experience in logistics, foreign trade, or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of customs matters, import/export processes, dual-use goods, TARIC, and export control regulations in the EU and US.
  • English at a communication level for email and oral communication.
  • Previous experience with MS Office Excel.
  • Detail-oriented, responsive, self-dependent, and comfortable working in an international virtual team.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.

Nice to have

  • Technical knowledge of products, software, and technologies sold or exported by local divisions.
  • Knowledge of sanctions and embargo regulations.
