Privacy Counsel (GDPR)

Location: Porto, Portugal — hybrid

Company

Work on a privacy project for a global trading platform operating in the European stock market environment, with a multicultural team distributed across several European cities.

What you will do

• Provide legal advice on GDPR and local privacy requirements and assess regulatory developments affecting business activities.
• Maintain privacy governance and compliance, including records of processing activities, policies, procedures, privacy notices, DPIAs, and legitimate interest assessments.
• Advise new projects, digital transformation, AI, and data-driven initiatives, embedding privacy by design and by default.
• Draft, review, and negotiate data protection agreements, data-sharing agreements, standard contractual clauses, and international transfer arrangements.
• Support third-party privacy due diligence, data subject rights requests, personal data breach management, and regulatory interactions.
• Contribute to privacy training, awareness initiatives, and reporting to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of relevant professional experience in data protection and privacy, gained in-house, in a law firm, or in consultancy.
• Law degree; EU legal qualification or admission is strongly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of GDPR and national data protection laws in at least one Euronext jurisdiction.
• Experience with privacy advisory, DPIAs, privacy governance, data protection contracts, international data transfers, DPAs, and SCCs.
• Excellent English, written and spoken, is required.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, market infrastructure, or another regulated environment.
• French, Dutch, Italian, or Portuguese language skills.
