Merchant Risk Analyst & Underwriting Specialist (Payments)

What you will do

• Evaluate new merchant applications and conduct comprehensive risk assessments for account approval.
• Analyze transaction data, financial statements, and related information to identify merchant risk profiles and red flags.
• Monitor existing merchant accounts, perform ODD and periodic reviews, and detect suspicious activity.
• Implement risk controls such as account monitoring, limit adjustments, and account closures.
• Ensure compliance with payment network rules, regulations, and internal underwriting policies.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, and risk teams while maintaining detailed underwriting records and improving workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in merchant underwriting, risk assessment, or fraud prevention.
• Strong understanding of KYC, KYB, AML, and fraud risk management frameworks.
• Familiarity with Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, payment processing platforms, risk management tools, and CRM systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to perform shift duties and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience with eCommerce payments.
