Roaming Engineer (Mobile Core/5G)

Location: Brussels, Belgium, with on-site presence required 2 to 3 days per week. Applicants must have the legal right to work in Belgium.

What you will do

• Lead the analysis, architecture, design, and implementation of network platforms and OSS solutions for service fulfilment, provisioning, assurance, and automation.
• Own technical projects from requirements gathering and solution design through testing, integration, and production deployment.
• Evaluate telecom and OSS technologies, define target architectures, and recommend platform evolutions.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, IT, Engineering, partners, and suppliers to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure network solutions.
• Support vendor selection, RFI/RFP processes, technical assessments, proofs of concept, and technical trials.
• Act as the technical authority for the assigned domain and produce architecture documentation, impact assessments, and implementation guidelines.

Requirements

• Degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of experience in telecommunications or IT.
• Strong knowledge of telecommunications networks, mobile core technologies, and international roaming services.
• Hands-on experience with 4G/5G packet core components including SMF, UPF, PGW, SGW, and roaming interfaces such as S8 and N4.
• Knowledge of roaming architectures and services including VoLTE, IMS, Home Routing, Local Breakout, roaming hubs, Diameter, SS7, and SCTP.
• Excellent written and spoken English; legal right to work in Belgium. Experience with telecom platforms, Splunk, SIGOS, Linux, scripting, and automation is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS, CI/CD, cloud, containerisation, and DevOps technologies.
• Experience in the international carrier or wholesale telecommunications industry.
