Technical Director, Commerce (Ecommerce)

Location: Gothenburg or Stockholm, Sweden. Hybrid work with regular office attendance; a mostly remote arrangement may be possible for the right person.

hirify.global is a design and e-commerce agency with around 100 people across Gothenburg and Stockholm, combining strategy, design, and technology for international commerce clients.

What you will do

• Lead technical discovery, architecture, and major platform decisions for digital commerce projects.
• Translate business needs and operational constraints into pragmatic technical direction.
• Own technical quality from early scoping through launch and continued development.
• Contribute hands-on through production code, prototypes, technical spikes, integrations, code reviews, and debugging.
• Advise clients and collaborate with business directors, project managers, designers, and developers on scope, budgets, teams, and architecture.
• Mentor developers and technical leads while improving technical decision-making and delivery practices.

Requirements

• Experience owning important technical decisions from initial direction through live operation.
• Ability to enter unfamiliar codebases and make useful production contributions.
• Strong understanding of data models, integrations, failure modes, and operational consequences of system design.
• Ability to work across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and business processes.
• Clear communication with executives, non-technical stakeholders, clients, and technical teams.
• Experience with commerce platforms or adjacent transactional fields such as marketplaces, logistics, or financial technology.

Nice to have

• Experience with Shopify Plus, Centra, Norce, Adobe Commerce, Optimizely, Litium, or custom commerce platforms.
• Experience with PIM, OMS, CRM, and other systems used by retailers and commerce companies.
• A considered approach to AI-native development and practical use of AI as an engineering lever.
