What you will do
- Manage a portfolio of five to ten concurrent publicly funded R&D projects, maintaining plans, budgets, risks, dependencies, and partner relationships.
- Write quarterly technical and scientific reports and presentations for funders, accurately translating research and engineering work.
- Forecast resource requirements, balance priorities, identify conflicts, and agree delivery trade-offs with technical leads.
- Run quarterly claims and financial reporting with Finance while ensuring compliance with funder terms.
- Coordinate consortium meetings, collaboration agreements, deliverables, monitoring officer reviews, and project workshops.
- Support new grant applications with project plans, work packages, budgets, and risk sections.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience managing three or more concurrent publicly funded R&D projects with a combined value of £3 million or more.
- Direct experience with funder reporting and monitoring officer relationships, ideally involving Innovate UK.
- Excellent technical writing skills, with an authored technical or scientific writing sample required during the selection process.
- STEM degree or comparable technical background, with the ability to build quantum knowledge quickly and ask informed questions.
- Proficiency with Jira and experience delivering through a hybrid delivery approach.
- Flexibility to work with distributed and remote teams across different time zones when necessary.
Nice to have
- Experience in quantum technologies, semiconductors, photonics, or another deep-tech field.
- Familiarity with the Innovation Funding Service, UKRI funding rules, and collaboration agreements.
- Formal project management qualification, preferably PMP.
