Advanced Data Engineer (AI & Data)

Location: Vienna, Austria, with the possibility to work from home and flexible working hours

What you will do

• Advise customers on technical solutions for data challenges and communicate proposed approaches to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Design, develop, test, and monitor distributed data-processing pipelines.
• Build scalable, maintainable, and reproducible datasets from diverse data sources.
• Develop data products that meet the needs of data producers and consumers.
• Collaborate with data architects, software engineers, and data scientists.
• Deliver data projects iteratively using agile methods and stay current with new technologies.

Requirements

• University degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, or a comparable field.
• At least 3 years of experience in data engineering or software engineering.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining high-quality data products.
• Knowledge of data architectures such as data lakes, data lakehouses, medallion architectures, data products, streaming, and batch processing.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, or Amazon SageMaker, plus relational and non-relational databases.
• Fluency in German and English is required; experience with big data, structured and unstructured data, agile development, DevOps, and AI-augmented software engineering.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience or strong interest in Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Airflow, Kafka, Kubernetes, Terraform, FastAPI, Python, Scala, SQL, or R.
• Understanding of data analysis, data visualization, and data science.
