Head of Security (Cloud & IoT)

Location: Remote across Germany, with optional offices in Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich.

What you will do

• Lead Team Trust, including direction, hiring, mentoring, and team development.
• Protect cloud infrastructure, applications, and connected hardware in customers' homes.
• Own cybersecurity frameworks, risk management, and regulatory compliance for energy-related systems.
• Scale identity and access management and secure development practices across engineering.
• Build security capabilities that developers use by default.
• Translate security risks for engineers, product managers, business stakeholders, and C-level decision-makers.

Requirements

• Several years of experience in security engineering or security leadership, including leading or mentoring engineers.
• Strong technical background in cloud security, preferably Google Cloud Platform, infrastructure, CI/CD, identity, and application security.
• Experience building a security framework from scratch or with limited initial resources.
• Knowledge of NIST CSF and ISO 27001; familiarity with NIS2 and KRITIS is preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills and the ability to explain security risks clearly.
• Pragmatic, outcome-oriented working style.

Nice to have

• Hands-on coding experience with TypeScript, Python, or Go.
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering, agentic workflows, and security guardrails.
• Experience coordinating security incident response or preparing security and IT controls for a public listing.
• Scale-up experience and interest in climate tech or renewable energy.
• German language skills.
