Activision 2027 Summer Internships - VFX

Location: In-person at Treyarch in Playa Vista, CA, or High Moon Studios in Carlsbad, CA; applicants must currently reside in the US or be open to relocating to the US.

Salary: $20.00–$50.00 hourly.

Activision develops, publishes, and distributes interactive entertainment, including the Call of Duty franchise.

What you will do

• Design real-time visual effects for Call of Duty, including explosive battlefield moments and environmental effects.
• Collaborate with experienced artists and engineers on dynamic, cinematic, and optimized effects.
• Use in-game FX systems and scripts to create multi-state FX objects.
• Balance visual quality and performance across next-generation platforms.
• Contribute to AAA game production pipelines and player immersion.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a certificate, associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program and graduating between May 2027 and June 2028.
• Available for a 12-week internship beginning in mid-May or mid-June.
• Experience creating real-time VFX simulations with Maya, 3ds Max, or in-game FX editors.
• Familiarity with Unreal, Unity, or proprietary game engines.
• Strong understanding of particle systems, shaders, dynamics, and 3D fundamentals.
• A portfolio or reel showcasing real-time photorealistic visual effects is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Houdini or Photoshop.
