Underwriting Summer Internship (Insurance)

Location: Hybrid internship in Scottsdale, Arizona; applicants must be within commuting distance of the Scottsdale office.

Salary: USD $22.00–$25.00 per hour

What you will do

• Support the underwriting department's growth and profitability goals.
• Assess risks and help determine insurance policy terms.
• Build business acumen through assignments across underwriting, risk management, internal audit, and claims.
• Compile daily cash balances, perform cash forecasting, and prepare monthly cash analysis.
• Assist with journal-entry uploads to the general ledger and maintain Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and testing work.
• Develop customer and internal business relationships and communicate facts clearly in written and verbal formats.

Requirements

• Must be within commuting distance of the Scottsdale, Arizona office.
• High school diploma required.
• Full-time undergraduate junior or senior preferred.
• Working toward an applicable degree; relevant coursework in accounting, actuarial studies, audit, finance, information technology, marketing, or underwriting is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
