Machine Learning Scientist III (AI)

Location: United States — Seattle, Washington; Austin, Texas; or San Jose, California

Salary: $137,500–$192,500 total cash in Seattle or Austin; $149,000–$208,500 in San Jose. Performance-based pay may reach up to $220,000 in Seattle or Austin and $238,500 in San Jose.

What you will do

• Design and implement end-to-end ML model pipelines for ranking, recommendations, search, and personalization.
• Develop scalable data pipelines, data quality checks, and production model monitoring.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering partners to turn business needs into well-scoped ML projects.
• Communicate findings and influence product decisions with data-driven insights.
• Use A/B tests and offline/online evaluation frameworks to measure model impact and guide improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience applying machine learning or statistical modeling to real business problems.
• Experience taking ML models from data exploration through evaluation and deployment.
• Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks and libraries.
• Ability to define ML tasks, design model and data structures including APIs and data models, and own solutions within a product or feature area.
• Experience applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products with attention to safety and reliability.

Nice to have

• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
• Production experience with ranking and recommendation modeling.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, retraining, model governance, robustness, and fairness.
• Experience designing ML architectures at scale, feature stores, and low-latency, high-availability systems.
• Familiarity with natural language search techniques and agentic workflows.
