TL;DR
Staff Security Software Engineer (Security Platforms/Distributed Systems): Building scalable security platforms and distributed systems that strengthen Coupang's security posture with an accent on architecture, reliability, cloud security, and AI capabilities. Focus on designing production-ready solutions, solving complex security challenges at scale, and driving technical direction across engineering and security organizations.
Location: Bengaluru, India; hybrid with at least 3 days per week in the office and up to 2 days working from home

What you will do
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-impact security engineering initiatives.
- Build scalable security platforms and distributed systems for complex security challenges.
- Collaborate with Security, Engineering, Infrastructure, and GRC teams to turn ambiguous requirements into production-ready solutions.
- Drive architecture, technical design reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, AI capabilities, and security solutions through prototypes and technical investigations.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong technical leadership experience with complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives.
- Proficiency in one or more of Java, Go, Python, or C++.
- Experience designing, building, and operating highly scalable and reliable software platforms.
- Strong understanding of system architecture, distributed systems, performance, and reliability.
- Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS, including IAM, security controls, logging, access management, and at least one security domain such as vulnerability management, GRC, application and data security, detection and response, or security automation.
Nice to have
- Experience building security products, platforms, or services at scale.
- Experience using AI technologies to improve security capabilities or engineering productivity.
- Experience driving architecture and technical strategy across multiple teams and organizations.
- Experience solving large-scale availability, scalability, and performance challenges in production.
