TL;DR
Senior Dynamics Analyst (Aerospace): Predicting launch vehicle vibration environments and defining dynamic test, instrumentation, and qualification methods for Neutron with an accent on finite element analysis, sensor selection, and structural testing. Focus on correlating numerical predictions with test data, supporting acoustic, random vibration, and shock campaigns, and solving complex dynamics problems across vehicle systems.
Location: Auckland, New Zealand; this role is based in the New Zealand office
Company
is an end-to-end space company developing rockets, spacecraft, launch systems, and critical subsystems.
What you will do
- Predict launch vehicle vibration environments using finite element analysis and analytical methods.
- Define test plans and support dynamic testing, including random vibration, acoustics, and shock campaigns.
- Select sensors such as accelerometers, strain gauges, and thermocouples, and process test data to correlate results with numerical predictions.
- Collaborate with avionics, mechanical, fluids, and propulsion teams on mounting strategies for vehicle and ground-system components.
- Document test environments and qualification status for vehicle components.
- Establish technical methodologies and contribute to the analysis, design validation, and improvement of the Neutron launch vehicle.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
- 5+ years of industry experience, ideally in aerospace, automotive, or marine industries.
- Experience with sensor selection, data post-processing and interpretation, and static and dynamic structural testing.
- Experience with engineering programming and data analysis, especially Python.
- Experience with finite element modelling and analysis using an industry-standard structural FEA package such as Femap/NX Nastran, Simcenter/NX Nastran, Abaqus, or OptiStruct/HyperWorks.
- Ability to work through changing deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
Nice to have
- Expertise in vibroacoustic modelling.
- Familiarity with conventional machining and additive manufacturing processes.
- Experience with NX CAD and Teamcenter.
Culture & Benefits
- Work on Neutron, a medium-lift reusable launch vehicle, from conceptual design through integration and launch.
- Join a small, high-performing engineering team focused on learning and continuous improvement.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and complex hardware development challenges.
- New Zealand applicants must pass background and nationality checks and be eligible to access equipment and data regulated by ITAR.
