Software Engineer V (Kotlin/Swift)

hirify.global is hiring for a software engineering contract focused on mobile systems and distributed services.

What you will do

• Design and implement systems spanning wearable devices, iOS and Android applications, and distributed backend services.
• Build mobile products using Kotlin or Swift with distributed backends.
• Develop and debug multithreaded, event-driven, and asynchronous systems.
• Resolve race conditions, thread-safety issues, deadlocks, and other concurrency problems.
• Optimize CPU usage, memory consumption, latency, and system reliability.
• Communicate technical information clearly in writing and verbally.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience; candidates with 7+ years may be considered with relevant additional skills.
• Strong programming and software engineering background.
• Professional experience with Kotlin or Swift and distributed backend systems.
• Experience with multithreaded, event-driven, and asynchronous systems.
• Strong system architecture, performance optimization, and reliability engineering skills.
• Ability to work in Burlingame, California.

Nice to have

• Experience building wearable products such as glasses, watches, or mixed-reality headsets.
• Proficiency in C++ or Rust.
• AI/ML engineering experience, including LLM prompt tuning, evaluation, tool calling, and agent workflows.
