External Affairs Manager (Patient Advocacy)

Location: Hybrid role based in Las Condes, Santiago, Chile

What you will do

• Develop and execute integrated External Affairs plans for Chile, anticipating regulatory, legislative, public policy, and healthcare access trends.
• Analyze the Chilean healthcare environment and translate risks and opportunities into recommendations and action plans for internal and regional leadership.
• Design and execute the annual Patient Advocacy strategy, including stakeholder mapping, prioritization, governance, and budget coordination.
• Build trusted relationships with authorities, legislators, industry associations, scientific societies, civil society organizations, patient groups, and healthcare stakeholders.
• Represent the organization in forums, chambers, working groups, public events, and initiatives related to health policy, innovation access, and patients.
• Coordinate compliant, non-promotional initiatives with Patient Advocacy Groups, including education, prevention, early detection, health literacy, system navigation, evidence generation, and capacity building.

Requirements

• University degree required; postgraduate studies in public policy, public health, international relations, law, communications, business administration, or a related field are valued.
• At least 3 years of experience in External Affairs, Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Patient Advocacy, public policy, or a related area, preferably in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology, or the wider healthcare ecosystem.
• Strong knowledge of the Chilean healthcare system, policymaking, legislative and regulatory dynamics, access mechanisms, health technology assessment, and sector stakeholders.
• Experience engaging with authorities, industry associations, civil society organizations, patient associations, opinion leaders, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to prepare executive materials, institutional positions, briefings, talking points, and presentations in Spanish and English.
• Fluent written and spoken English, strategic thinking, influencing and negotiation skills, and a strong commitment to ethics, compliance, transparency, and independence.
