TL;DR
Analytical Chemistry Intern (Analytical Chemistry/Laboratory Testing): Logging, analyzing, labeling, and reporting laboratory samples while operating instrumentation and maintaining traceable analytical records with an accent on ISO 17025 quality systems, instrument maintenance, and laboratory safety. Focus on preparing for SANAS audits, investigating technical issues, supporting operational integrity activities, and maintaining accurate sample and equipment documentation.
Location: Somerset West, Cape Town, South Africa. Must be a South African citizen and willing to relocate to Somerset West.

What you will do
- Log received samples into SLIMS using client work orders, print labels, and sort samples for labeling and boxing.
- Analyze samples using approved procedures and methods, operate laboratory instrumentation, and report results within required time frames.
- Maintain traceable analytical data, calculations, instrument records, calibration, verification, and maintenance documentation.
- Follow laboratory quality, health, safety, environmental, and operational integrity procedures, including ISO 17025 requirements.
- Support SANAS audit preparation, investigations, training, stock counts, housekeeping, and operational integrity projects.
- Report hazards, incidents, equipment faults, and process deviations, and apply Stop Work Authority where required.
Requirements
- South African citizenship and a valid South African ID document are required.
- Must be aged 18–30, currently unemployed, and have no criminal record.
- BTech or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, or equivalent laboratory knowledge and experience recognized through prior learning.
- Grade 12/Matric with Mathematics and Science.
- Exceptional computer literacy, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be willing to relocate to Somerset West.

- Knowledge of ISO 17025 and relevant legislation.
- E-learning and facilitation skills.
- Strong research skills, attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency, organization, initiative, and self-motivation.
