Senior Software Engineer, Security Rules (Rust)

Location: Hybrid; available in London, UK or Lisbon, Portugal

Salary for Portugal-based hires: €66,000–€91,000 annual salary.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate microservices for application security products including Rate Limiting and Web Application Firewall.
• Lead technical design and delivery of complex projects, defining architecture, trade-offs, milestones, and plans.
• Build scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant distributed systems for hirify.global’s global network.
• Collaborate with security, network engineering, SRE, and product management teams.
• Improve engineering practices, reduce operational toil, review code and designs, and influence technical direction.
• Mentor engineers and participate in production support, including possible on-call work outside standard hours.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant professional experience in a technology company.
• Strong programming skills in Rust, Go, C++, or a similar systems-level language.
• Experience leading complex technical projects from ambiguity through delivery.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems and high-volume production services.
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or Memcached.
• Strong communication, teamwork, ownership, mentoring, and technical review skills.

Nice to have

• Experience influencing technical direction across a team or product area.
• Experience with Unix/Linux development, monitoring, alerting, logging, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and other containerization or orchestration technologies.
