Head of Business Operations (Biopharma)

Location: Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, United States; primarily office-based with occasional presence on the manufacturing floor. Occasional travel to other hirify.global sites or meetings is expected, estimated at less than 10%.

What you will do

• Lead strategic business operations across Formulation, Filling, Inspection, and Packaging at the Swiftwater manufacturing site.
• Develop and maintain programs supporting production schedules, operational targets, process ownership, inventory management, and business systems.
• Analyze operational performance, communicate KPIs, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Plan and manage staffing resources, including registered headcount, temporary workers, and flexible staffing models.
• Forecast short- and long-term workforce requirements and lead capacity and capability planning over a five-year horizon.
• Coordinate with Operational Excellence, Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Operations, and other support groups to deliver savings and reliable supply to customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, engineering, or a related field; vaccine manufacturing experience may qualify candidates with another degree.
• At least 8 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, business operations, pharmaceutical manufacturing, vaccine manufacturing, or an equivalent field.
• Experience managing cross-functional relationships and acting as a liaison between operations and support functions.
• Proficiency with SAP, preferably MM/PP modules, Microsoft Office, advanced Excel, Master Data Governance, and business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, facilitation, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and respond to operational needs outside standard business hours when necessary.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Experience in resource management, capacity planning, long-range strategic planning, budget management, or operational excellence.
• Foundational AI or data science experience, including use of GenAI tools for data-driven decision-making.
• Familiarity with 3P Production Preparation Process methodologies and a track record of delivering cost savings and efficiency improvements.
