Senior Android Engineer (AdTech)

Location: Cologne, Germany; full-time, with no explicit remote arrangement for this role. Up to 20 work-from-home days per year may be arranged anywhere in the EU when office presence is not required.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of scalable, maintainable, and high-performing Android applications with Kotlin and modern architecture patterns.
• Define and evolve the Android architecture, modularization, testability, performance, and long-term technical health of the application.
• Build reusable Jetpack Compose components for sponsored products, sponsored brands, native placements, display banners, and personalized recommendations.
• Integrate retail media placements into product discovery, search, category, and product-detail journeys while maintaining a high-quality shopping experience.
• Collaborate with backend, data, product, ad server, and retail media stakeholders on APIs, tracking contracts, campaign metadata, targeting, attribution, and measurement.
• Improve CI/CD reliability, build performance, release processes, observability, security, feature flags, experimentation, and A/B testing.

Requirements

• Extensive Android development experience with strong Kotlin expertise and deep knowledge of the Android SDK.
• Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and Flow, Hilt/Dagger, Retrofit/OkHttp, and REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of clean architecture, design patterns, modularization, dependency management, and maintainable code.
• Experience with testing using JUnit, Espresso, and MockK, as well as CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.
• Ability to own complex projects independently and collaborate effectively across product, engineering, data, and advertising teams.
• Experience with retail media, AdTech, MarTech, or large-scale e-commerce platforms.
