TL;DR
Senior Gameplay Animator (Game Development): Creating and integrating high-quality character, weapon, and prop animations for next-generation games with an accent on keyframe animation, motion capture, and gameplay animation systems. Focus on designing animations for the proprietary Northlight engine, collaborating with programmers and designers, and mentoring other animators.

Location: Hybrid work from offices in the Helsinki metropolitan area, Finland, or Stockholm, Sweden. Relocation support is available for candidates moving to Finland or Sweden.

Remedy Entertainment is an independent game studio creating titles including Control, Max Payne, and Alan Wake.

What you will do

  • Create and maintain high-quality gameplay animations that bring characters to life.
  • Animate characters, weapons, and props using motion capture and hand-key techniques.
  • Design, capture, and integrate animations into the proprietary Northlight engine while meeting technical constraints.
  • Collaborate with programmers, designers, and the wider project team to support rapid prototyping and animation quality.
  • Communicate proactively, provide constructive feedback, and mentor team members.

Requirements

  • Professional game development experience as an animator.
  • Strong keyframe animation skills, including weight, timing, posing, shape, composition, and layout.
  • Strong understanding of Motion Builder and mocap data editing techniques for games.
  • Experience with game engines and state machine or blend tree solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and exchange constructive feedback.
  • Availability to start in January 2027 or earlier.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of motion matching.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages.
