Lecturer in European Studies, with Gender Studies (European literatures and visual cultures): Teaching and researching European literary and visual cultures across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with an accent on Gender Studies, Romance European languages, and transnational European contexts. Location: Auckland City Campus, Auckland, New Zealand. The position includes flexible employment practices, including hybrid working.
Salary: NZ$99,788–NZ$119,204 per annum.

What you will do
- Teach and develop undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum across European Studies, French and/or Spanish literatures, comparative literature and drama, film, and media.
- Contribute to the Gender Studies programme, including the second-year core course in feminist and gender theory.
- Develop a productive, high-quality research profile and contribute to the School’s research culture.
- Supervise PhD and other postgraduate students across varied periods and topics.
- Contribute to academic service, leadership, and citizenship within the School, Faculty, and University.
Requirements
- PhD by the time of appointment in European literatures, comparative literature, film or media studies, languages, cultural studies, Gender Studies, or a related field.
- Competency in at least two Romance European languages and cultures represented in the curriculum, preferably French and Spanish.
- Effective tertiary teaching, research, and publication experience in relevant fields.
- Ability to teach Gender Studies and experience in, or readiness to undertake, postgraduate supervision and advising.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to engage students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

- Expertise in European diasporas, colonialisms, and postcolonialisms.
- Experience adapting and innovating curricula and courses in response to evolving needs.
