Software Engineer - Agency (Backend)

Location: Mexico City; candidates within a reasonable commute to a hirify.global office work onsite at least 3 days per week.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, maintain, optimize, and scale cloud-based backend services and software applications.
• Deliver new product features while meeting coding, quality, security, performance, and maintainability standards.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs within distributed and microservices-based architectures.
• Collaborate with product, QA, operations, and engineering teams through code reviews, specifications, test planning, and Agile ceremonies.
• Research, benchmark, and evaluate tools and technologies, recommending improvements for product development.
• Support deployments, releases, critical maintenance, and occasional off-hours activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience and the ability to work independently in team-driven environments.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages: .NET/C#, Java, or Python; working knowledge of object-oriented principles, design patterns, and clean code.
• Experience with GCP or an equivalent cloud platform, Terraform or infrastructure-as-code concepts, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based workflows.
• Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL, including query optimization and schema design fundamentals.
• Knowledge of secure coding, performance optimization, system resiliency, event-driven architectures, and critical evaluation of AI-generated code.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses and NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to LLM APIs such as Anthropic or OpenAI, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation concepts.
• Familiarity with React, cloud certifications, open-source contributions, or an active GitHub portfolio.
