TL;DR
Senior GNC Engineer (Aerospace): Developing guidance, navigation, and control systems for Electron, Neutron, and other launch vehicle programs with an accent on trajectory optimization, mission design, flight software, and Monte Carlo analysis. Focus on designing auto-sequences and separation dynamics, developing 6DOF simulators, analyzing flight data, and supporting launch and hardware-in-the-loop operations.

What you will do

  • Design and optimize trajectories for orbital and suborbital launch vehicle missions.
  • Design, implement, and verify auto-sequences for flight, stack tests, and wet dress rehearsals.
  • Perform 3DOF trajectory missionization, 6DOF and flight analysis, and Monte Carlo analysis before, during, and after launches.
  • Develop GNC flight software, algorithms, models, and 6DOF simulators for Electron, Neutron, and other programs.
  • Analyze GNC hardware performance and flight data, and support launch and hardware-in-the-loop operations.
  • Work with the GNC Team Lead to support and mentor the team while following health and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Electronics, Software, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 5+ years of C/C++ development experience, including embedded or high-reliability development.
  • 5+ years of Python or MATLAB development experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • For New Zealand-based applicants, nationality checks and background checks are required for access to ITAR-regulated equipment and data; eligibility may depend on citizenship or nationality.

Nice to have

  • Experience optimizing launch vehicle or spacecraft missions.
  • Experience with GMAT, STK, ASTOS, or POST.
  • Publications in guidance, navigation, control, or adjacent fields.
