TL;DR
Process Engineering Intern (Manufacturing): Supporting manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and continuous improvement projects at the Fridley facility with an accent on equipment reliability, operational efficiency, safety, and data-driven decision making. Focus on analyzing production data, optimizing preventive maintenance, developing technical documentation, and leading cross-functional improvement projects.

Location: Fridley, Minnesota, USA; on-site

What you will do

  • Support Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with maintenance and reliability projects, including preventive maintenance optimization, asset management, and critical spare parts strategies.
  • Analyze production, maintenance, and quality data to identify trends, solve problems, and drive sustainable improvements.
  • Develop technical documentation such as SOPs, work instructions, equipment drawings, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Lead cross-functional projects with operations, maintenance, quality, engineering, and EHS teams, presenting recommendations to site leadership.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Rising junior or senior standing in one of the listed engineering disciplines.
  • Comfort working in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • The program is a 12-week paid internship running from late May through mid-August.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Minitab.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Interest in process improvement, safety, or quality engineering.
