Software Engineer - Collision Avoidance System Metrics (Autonomous Driving): Building metrics and analysis tools for Collision Avoidance System performance using urban driving data with an accent on distributed computing, perception evaluation, and safety-critical autonomy. Focus on analyzing petabyte-scale datasets, measuring errors and system improvements, and defining performance metrics for complex urban driving environments.

Location: Hybrid in Foster City, California; Boston, Massachusetts; or San Diego, California

What you will do

Apply distributed computing algorithms to analyze petabytes of urban driving data.
Develop metrics and tools for analyzing errors and measuring system improvements.
Work with Collision Avoidance System engineers to evaluate system performance.
Collaborate with Perception engineers to define metrics for autonomous driving.
Partner with Planning engineers to measure performance in complex urban environments.

Requirements

Hold a BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field.
Demonstrate fluency in C++ and/or Python.
Have extensive experience with programming and algorithm design.

Nice to have

Experience analyzing latency in safety-critical software systems.
Experience with petabyte-scale distributed computing, including Spark, Databricks, or MapReduce pipelines.
Background in Bayesian statistics.
