Assistant Controller (Fintech)

Location: New York, United States; on-site

Salary: $275,000–$295,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.

Polymarket operates a peer-to-peer prediction market platform where users trade on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs.

What you will do

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process under US GAAP, including consolidated financial statements and subsidiary statutory filings.
• Maintain and expand the SOX control environment, identifying control gaps before they become audit findings.
• Apply and document technical accounting conclusions for ASC 606, ASC 805, and ASC 350-60, including revenue, business combinations, intangibles, and crypto assets.
• Partner with the Controller and legal and compliance teams on CFTC and other US regulatory filings.
• Implement accounting system improvements, close process gaps, and build dependable workflows.
• Guide accounting for new products, M&A, and monetization changes while managing and mentoring junior accounting staff.

Requirements

• Active CPA license.
• 8–15 years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful experience in banking, fintech, or regulated financial services.
• Experience with high-volume transaction environments, crypto on-ramps, stablecoin settlements, fiat integrations, reconciliations, and error-rate management.
• Independent technical GAAP experience with ASC 606, ASC 805, and ASC 350-60.
• Direct experience building and maintaining SOX controls and preparing CFTC and other US financial regulatory filings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, strong communication skills, and strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
