Senior Specialist Field Engineer, Federal Security (Kubernetes)

Location: Washington, D.C.; U.S. citizenship and eligibility to access export-controlled information required. The role includes work in SCIFs and other secure facilities, customer and government site visits, and occasional travel.

Salary: $165,000–$220,000 base salary per year, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers running secured Kubernetes workloads in regulated cloud environments.
• Lead security architecture for DoD, Intelligence Community, civilian agency, defense prime, systems integrator, and SLED engagements.
• Translate FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, DoD Impact Level, CMMC, and DISA STIG requirements into Kubernetes and GPU infrastructure controls.
• Support RMF and ATO activities, including control narratives, System Security Plans, POA&Ms, monitoring evidence, and assessor engagements.
• Lead proofs of concept and prototypes for classified, controlled, air-gapped, and disconnected environments.
• Review customer workloads, identify compliance gaps and optimization opportunities, and channel federal requirements into security product development.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship with an active Top Secret/SCI clearance, or an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in solutions architecture, engineering, research, or forward-deployed engineering focused on cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, HPC, or cloud services.
• 3+ years directly supporting federal or Defense Industrial Base engagements in a customer-facing technical role.
• Hands-on experience with accredited federal environments and at least one of FedRAMP authorization, DoD Impact Level accreditation, RMF/ATO packages, or CMMC readiness.
• Experience designing cloud solutions, administering Kubernetes clusters, securing containers, working with NVIDIA GPUs, and implementing hardened supply chains with image signing, SBOMs, FIPS cryptography, and STIG-compliant baselines.

Nice to have

• Experience with NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, or Intelligence Community cloud programs.
• Experience at a cloud service provider, defense prime, or federal systems integrator.
• CISSP, CCSP, CMMC RP, CCA, or equivalent certification.
• Experience securing AI/ML training and inference workloads for national security missions.
