SVT/PV Engineer 1 - New Grad (Optical Networking)

What you will do

• Execute feature, integration, regression, and system-level validation for Waveserver software and hardware releases.
• Develop, maintain, and execute test plans and test cases for service workflows.
• Validate CLI, REST, NETCONF, gNMI/gRPC, OpenConfig, SNMP, and WebSocket management interfaces.
• Verify streaming telemetry, data collection, performance monitoring, and operational state reporting.
• Investigate defects using logs, alarms, telemetry data, and system behavior, and collaborate on root-cause resolution.
• Contribute to Python-based test automation and collaborate with Development, Systems Engineering, and Technical Support teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, co-op terms, academic research, or projects.
• Understanding of functional, regression, integration, and system testing concepts.
• Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals and network management concepts.
• Familiarity with Linux environments, command-line tools, and Python or another programming language.
• Exposure to AI-enabled engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot for development, automation, data analysis, or problem-solving.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of optical networking, DWDM, coherent optics, Layer 0/1 transport technologies, or telecommunications systems.
• Experience with network telemetry, performance monitoring, streaming data, or network analytics.
• Experience with automation frameworks, CI/CD, Git, Jenkins, Robot Framework, PyTest, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with YANG models, OpenConfig, SNMP, test equipment, laboratory environments, or hardware/software integration testing.
• Understanding of troubleshooting methods and defect lifecycle management.
