Data Scientist (Privacy)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid work with 2 days per week in the Gracia office

What you will do

• Analyse large health datasets using standard and bespoke software libraries.
• Assess client information for patient re-identification risk and contribute to data privacy research.
• Apply experimental design, exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing, and statistical methods to practical privacy problems.
• Discuss findings and progress with internal and external stakeholders.
• Produce comprehensive reports summarising analytical findings.
• Research novel and established sources of re-identification risk.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Proficiency with Python for programmable data analysis and motivation to develop further expertise.
• Understanding of probability distributions, bias, error, statistical power, sampling, and resampling methods.
• Experience applying scientific methods through experimental design, exploratory data analysis, and hypothesis testing.
• Strong time management, prioritisation, communication, and reporting skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Awareness of data privacy, security, and relevant legislation; familiarity with AWS cloud storage and computing.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL or LaTeX document creation.
• Detailed knowledge of health information domains such as genomics.
• Experience working with the public sector.
