TL;DR
Software Engineer, Professional Senior (Android + NFC/RFID + AI) (Android/AOSP, NFC, RFID, AI): Building and sustaining Android mobile computing software while diagnosing complex system-level issues in the NFC stack, secure elements, and custom RFID HALs with an accent on AOSP debugging, hardware integration, and customer support. Focus on isolating root causes through deep-dive log analysis, integrating AI-driven diagnostic automation, and solving cross-functional customer issues across software, hardware, and firmware.
Location: Hybrid in Mississauga, Canada; travel required up to 15%.
Salary: $90,960–$136,440 annual, plus a performance-based annual cash incentive targeted at 10% of base pay.

What you will do
- Provide technical support for Zebra Android mobile computing products, including Android Framework and BSP sustenance.
- Diagnose complex Android system-level software issues through deep-dive log analysis and AOSP source code debugging.
- Troubleshoot the NFC stack, Host Card Emulation, secure elements, and custom RFID hardware abstraction layers.
- Develop and integrate AI-driven tools to automate diagnostics and streamline support workflows.
- Collaborate with customers, software engineering, hardware, firmware, and product management teams to resolve issues and improve products.
- Create technical documentation and training materials while mentoring support engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including significant customer-facing or support experience.
- Hands-on experience navigating, modifying, and debugging Android AOSP source code.
- Ability to build and integrate applied AI tools for workflow automation and continuous improvement.
- Strong programming skills in Java, C, C++, and Python, with in-depth understanding of object-oriented programming.
- Experience with Android triage, debugging, root-cause analysis, Git or Gerrit, and CI/CD pipelines.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of NFC and RFID technologies, relevant protocols, and secure hardware integration.
- Experience developing Linux device drivers.
- Advanced degree in a related field.
