TL;DR
Electrical Design Engineer (Semiconductor Hardware): Designing and productionizing electrical systems and PCBAs for in-house chip fabrication machines with an accent on analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design. Focus on taking clean-sheet hardware from schematic capture and simulation through prototyping, testing, integration, documentation, and small-scale production.

Location: Austin, United States; on-site

Company

hirify.global is an early-stage hardware startup developing the hardware, software, fabs, tools, and components required for chip manufacturing.

What you will do

  • Own clean-sheet PCBAs and electrical systems for chip fabrication machines from schematic capture through layout, bring-up, testing, integration, and documentation.
  • Define system requirements with software, mechanical, and process teams, including independent investigations where requirements are ambiguous.
  • Evaluate electrical designs through detailed analysis and simulations, balancing off-the-shelf components with custom solutions.
  • Break down complex hardware challenges into execution plans and carry designs from prototype to small-scale production.
  • Develop electrical systems such as high-voltage low-noise boost converters, motor drivers, sensors, and temperature controllers.

Requirements

  • End-to-end electrical hardware design experience, taking systems from initial concept through production.
  • Proficiency in analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design, with hands-on testing using multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with PCB design and simulation tools including Altium, KiCad, and LTSpice.
  • Ability to take broad ownership, work autonomously, investigate technical problems, and execute in a hands-on environment.
  • Ability to work on-site in Austin, United States.

Nice to have

  • High-speed digital design or low-noise analog front-end experience.
  • Experience with RF plasmas, pulsed lasers, semiconductor processing equipment, or digitally controlled switching power supplies.
  • Knowledge of control theory, control-loop design, stability analysis, or low-voltage DC inverter design.
  • FPGA or firmware development experience and advanced SMT precision rework skills.

Culture & Benefits

  • Early-stage hardware startup with solid funding and experienced advisors.
  • Lab and office facilities in Austin, Texas, and San Francisco, California.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, paid parental leave, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Generous paid time off including holidays and sick time.
  • Visa sponsorship, commuter benefits, office meals, and weekly learning and development opportunities.
