TL;DR
Part-Time Bookkeeper (Accounting): Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting accounting operations with an accent on reconciliations, invoicing, reporting, and GAAP compliance. Focus on preparing financial statements and forecasts, supporting month-end and year-end close, and maintaining general ledger accuracy.
Location: Utica, NY, United States; most hours are on-site at the Utica headquarters, with some remote flexibility after the initial three-month probationary period. Preferred on-site days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Salary: $21–$30 per hour, for 10–15 hours per week.

What you will do
- Verify, post, and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Prepare invoices, accounting reports, financial statements, forecasts, and budgets.
- Identify discrepancies and recommend efficiency or cost-saving improvements.
- Support timesheet administration, bank reconciliations, and general accounting tasks.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close, tax preparation support, and audit readiness.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and support internal controls.
Requirements
- At least two years of professional bookkeeping experience.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software; experience with Unanet or a similar platform is strongly preferred.
- Experience with invoices, reconciliations, reporting, month-end processes, and general ledger functions.
- Understanding of standard accounting principles and GAAP through education or experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to work independently with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- An associate’s or higher degree in accounting, business operations, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
- Experience supporting Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.
