Senior Product Manager (Fintech)

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa — hybrid. The role requires being based in South Africa and collaborating across countries and time zones.

What you will do

• Own the product offering and market expansion initiatives across the MENA region, from discovery and partner assessment through launch and scale.
• Develop market knowledge covering consumer behavior, payment methods, financial infrastructure, regulation, market practices, and competition.
• Design and evolve end-to-end payment flows, including pay-in, settlement, FX, refunds, chargebacks, reconciliation, reporting, and remittance.
• Translate market, merchant, regulatory, and operational needs into product strategies, requirements, scalable solutions, and documented playbooks.
• Partner with Engineering, Technical, Regulatory, Legal, Risk, Treasury, Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams to deliver compliant and sustainable products.
• Engage with global merchants, support RFPs and RFIs, build business cases, and prioritize initiatives based on commercial, financial, operational, and growth impact.

Requirements

• Solid Product Management experience owning complex products or initiatives from discovery and strategy through execution, launch, and continuous improvement.
• Strong autonomy, ownership, business acumen, analytical thinking, problem-solving, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering and business or operational stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and influence technical, operational, commercial, and executive audiences.
• Customer-centric understanding of global merchants and local payment users.
• Fluent English with excellent written and verbal communication skills; based in South Africa.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, fintech, banking, or financial services.
• Experience launching products in MENA, Africa, or other emerging markets.
• Familiarity with regulatory environments and collaboration with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams.
• Experience working with banks, acquirers, PSPs, payment method providers, or local financial partners.
• Experience with multi-country expansion, strategic enterprise merchants, complex B2B discussions, or a relevant bachelor's degree.
