Research Coordinator (Hardware R&D)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, California, with at least 3 days per week in the office. Candidates must be based in San Francisco and available for regular onsite work. Occasional domestic travel is required for site visits, vendor or lab coordination, and cross-office collaboration. Candidates residing in Alaska, Delaware, Iowa, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wisconsin are not being considered.

Salary: $76,500–$90,000 annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Support up to three hardware-focused human subjects research studies in parallel under the guidance of research and science leads.
• Execute study operations, including participant scheduling, room and equipment setup, participant flow, and prototype device data capture.
• Support studies throughout the lifecycle, from initiation and trial monitoring through data collection and quality review.
• Develop expertise in emerging data collection methods and early-stage device and sensor concepts.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to maintain study rigor and complete documentation.
• Travel domestically as needed for research sites, vendors, laboratories, and cross-office collaboration.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in human subjects research in an academic, commercial, or clinical setting.
• Experience with participant screening and scheduling, IRB approval and consent processes, data monitoring, and study documentation.
• Familiarity with physiological data, wearable technology, multimodal sensor data, medical devices, or product prototypes.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical, research, and data issues during live sessions.
• Understanding of human subjects research ethics, Good Clinical Practice, and participant and product privacy.
• Based in San Francisco and available for regular onsite work at least three days per week; willing to travel occasionally for study-related activities.

Nice to have

• Experience working with early-stage or prototype hardware in a research setting.
• Experience automating processes and creating tools or artifacts to improve efficiency.
