What you will do
- Lead an independent research project focused on protein turnover, protein homeostasis, cell biology, and physiology.
- Develop mouse models and apply mouse genetics, tissue analysis, primary cell approaches, viral delivery, and imaging.
- Investigate cellular pathways in the nervous system, immune system, development, cancer, and related physiological contexts.
- Reconstitute cellular processes with purified proteins and determine molecular mechanisms and structures using biochemical approaches, cryo-EM, and cryo-ET.
- Integrate in vivo, genetic, cell biological, biochemical, and structural methods to connect molecular mechanisms with physiological function.
- Design experiments, analyze data, communicate findings through presentations and publications, and contribute to collaborative research.
Requirements
- Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in cell biology, neuroscience, immunology, developmental biology, biochemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related field.
- Strong record of scientific accomplishment and rigorous experimental research.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and critically analyze experimental results.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Scientific curiosity, initiative, and interest in fundamental mechanistic questions.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research environment.
Nice to have
- Expertise in mouse in vivo biology, neuroscience, immunology, developmental biology, or cancer biology.
- Expertise in protein biochemistry, cryo-electron microscopy, or cryo-electron tomography.
- Training in a field complementary to the laboratory’s current research areas.
