TL;DR
Systems Engineer (Life Sciences): Sustaining and enhancing high-precision electromechanical and optical systems throughout their product lifecycle with an accent on systems integration, verification, and custom design solutions. Focus on building, integrating, and testing systems, troubleshooting mechanical and control issues, and implementing corrective actions through structured problem-solving.

Location: On-site in Puch bei Hallein, Salzburg, Austria

Salary: Minimum gross salary of €4,341.85 per month, with a higher offer depending on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

  • Sustain products throughout their lifecycle, from launch through end-of-life.
  • Scope, develop, and implement custom design solutions for customer requirements.
  • Analyze existing technologies and develop strategies to achieve target functionality.
  • Coordinate designs across mechanical, optical, electronic, firmware, and software engineering.
  • Build, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and debug high-precision electromechanical and optical systems.
  • Identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous process improvements using FMEA, structured problem-solving, Poka-Yoke, and Standard Work.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Physics.
  • 1–3 years of R&D experience in measuring and detection technologies.
  • Experience with systems integration and verification against defined requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electromechanical, optical, communication, and control systems.
  • Very good English language skills required.

Nice to have

  • German language proficiency.
  • Familiarity with microplate readers and clone screening automation.
  • Professional experience working with operations technicians and manufacturing engineers.
