Solutions Engineer (Application Engineer): End-of-Line Automation (Robotics)

Location: Chicago or Bolingbrook, Illinois, United States. Customer-site visits are required as needed, with up to 35–40% travel.

Salary: $115,000–$155,000 USD per year, plus equity and commission eligibility.

What you will do

• Partner with prospective manufacturing customers and Sales to understand production challenges, constraints, and automation requirements.
• Lead technical discovery, requirements gathering, customer meetings, and design reviews.
• Analyze production data, CAD files, parts lists, layouts, and process details to create scopes of work.
• Design robotic automation solutions using hirify.global’s modular automation portfolio and prepare quick-turn cost estimates.
• Manage multiple proposals and technical workstreams while incorporating customer and stakeholder feedback.
• Document requirements and assumptions for clean handoffs to Deployment and recommend improvements based on field learnings.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a pre-sales technical, Solutions Engineering, Applications Engineering, or Automation Engineering role.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing environments such as packaging, food production, or industrial operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, including Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Robotics; equivalent technical education and relevant automation experience may be considered.
• Expertise in one or more automation segments, with palletizing or case packing strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with major six-axis robot OEMs such as FANUC, KUKA, Yaskawa, ABB, or Universal Robots.
• Proficiency in CAD drafting and reviewing customer layout and process data; a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are required for local travel.

Nice to have

• Experience in consultative sales, technical sales, or customer-facing solution design.
• Experience supporting adoption of new technology in production environments.
