TL;DR
Senior Project/Process Automation Engineer (Medical Devices): Developing and supporting automated manufacturing solutions for medical device and pharmaceutical environments with an accent on project lifecycle management, process automation, robotics, and computerized systems. Focus on mitigating technical risks in first-of-a-kind solutions, managing external suppliers, and delivering equipment through design, acceptance testing, and installation.

Location: ATC offices on the University of Limerick campus, Limerick, Ireland. The role includes extensive global travel to support the business.

Base pay: €63,300–€101,315 annually, plus an annual bonus subject to applicable plans and performance.

What you will do

  • Provide technical support and leadership for new and existing products, processes, and systems that improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support the early lifecycle of capital projects, including requirements definition, technical risk mitigation, supplier selection, and supplier management.
  • Oversee equipment design, acceptance testing, and installation for automated manufacturing solutions.
  • Track project time, quality, and cost performance.
  • Develop subject-matter expertise in controls and software design, process automation, computerized systems implementation, process engineering, or project management.
  • Apply environmental health and safety policies, GAMP 5 methodology, and good engineering practice.

Requirements

  • Degree in mechanical, process, chemical engineering, or a similar discipline, with 3+ years of application experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Project management experience in high-speed automation, including vision systems, multi-axis motion control, smart machine controls, SCADA, MES, and robotics.
  • Ability to create detailed project plans that address risks associated with first-of-a-kind solutions.
  • Experience selecting and managing external suppliers and communicating with internal stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of GAMP 5 process validation requirements and practical Six Sigma experience.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly methodologies.
  • Progress toward chartered professional engineer status or a local equivalent.
  • Experience in technology development, engineering, R&D, research organizations, or third-party equipment suppliers.
  • Interest in mechanical and design engineering for automated process equipment.
