Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Hybrid, one day per week in Porto or Coimbra; candidates must be based in Portugal

What you will do

• Develop data science and operations research solutions for capacity-planning-intensive sectors such as car rental, airlines, and logistics.
• Build mathematical optimization models using linear, nonlinear, and integer programming.
• Design algorithms including dynamic and stochastic programming approaches.
• Develop and deploy production models and AI-enabled tooling in Python.
• Deploy and monitor live systems, preferably using AWS.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in data science and operations research.
• Strong knowledge of mathematical optimization, solvers, and algorithm design.
• Expertise in Python for modelling and production deployment.
• Experience with AI tooling in development workflows.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese at B2 level is required.
• Portuguese or EU citizenship, or a valid work permit, is required; availability for weekly hybrid office attendance in Porto or Coimbra is required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with spec-driven development.
• Experience deploying and monitoring live systems on AWS.
• Experience in car rental, airlines, logistics, or similar capacity-planning-intensive sectors.
