Scientific Data & Technology Strategy Associate Consultant (Biopharma): Designing and implementing scalable data and technology solutions for biotech and biopharma drug discovery workflows with an accent on scientific data modeling, cloud platforms, integrations, and research data management. Focus on translating scientific workflows into technical architectures, building ETL/ELT pipelines and APIs, and delivering evidence-based recommendations for complex research technology ecosystems.
Location: Hybrid role based in Boston, Massachusetts; San Diego, California; South San Francisco, California; or Thousand Oaks, California, United States. Regular work from home is combined with on-site presence at client or offices. Client-facing work may require travel.
Salary: $120,000–$137,000 per year

What you will do
- Translate scientific workflows and research needs into technical requirements, solution designs, and practical implementations.
- Define data models, metadata standards, integration patterns, information architecture, and system architecture components.
- Lead implementation workstreams from design through deployment in line with scientific workflows and enterprise technology standards.
- Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines, cloud-native data platforms, APIs, and cross-system integrations.
- Contribute to research IT strategies, technology roadmaps, data management initiatives, and client presentations.
- Collaborate with scientists, data engineers, architects, business stakeholders, and project managers while mentoring junior colleagues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, biomedical engineering, health informatics, life sciences, or a related field; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 2.5 years of relevant experience in research technology, data platforms, pharma technology, consulting, biotech, pharma, or related environments.
- Hands-on experience with pharma datasets, cloud platforms, and cross-system integrations.
- Experience with data modeling, metadata standards, information architecture, solution design, technical requirements, or architecture documentation.
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP; RESTful APIs; ETL/ELT pipelines; Databricks; and Snowflake.
- Fluency in English and willingness to work in a hybrid, client-facing environment with travel as needed.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree, MS, PhD, or another advanced degree in a scientific discipline.
- Experience with research information management and analytics platforms such as LIMS, ELN, Certara, Schrödinger, GeneData, or Watson.
- Knowledge of research data management, FAIR principles, and biopharmaceutical research domains.
