Senior Mobile Engineer (AI)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid schedule with in-office work required on Wednesdays and Thursdays

Salary: $150,000–$174,500 CAD annually, plus variable compensation including short-term and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Design, build, release, and operate production mobile features used by millions of customers.
• Develop native iOS and Android experiences for smart thermostats, energy programs, demand response, and grid resiliency.
• Own features end to end, including technical design, implementation, monitoring, debugging, incident response, and iteration.
• Evolve mobile architecture for scale, performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
• Collaborate with product, design, backend, data, and firmware partners to deliver consistent customer experiences.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and promote effective AI-assisted development practices.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience building and shipping production mobile applications.
• Deep expertise in iOS or Android, with strong proficiency in the other platform.
• Strong understanding of mobile lifecycle, performance, debugging, observability, tooling, modern architectures, and asynchronous programming.
• Experience owning features in a large production codebase and balancing delivery speed with quality and maintainability.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Gemini in development workflows, with the ability to validate AI output through testing and review.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives, with strong cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with IoT, connected devices, or energy-related products.
• Experience operating mobile software under real-world constraints such as connectivity issues, device variability, and latency.
• Experience with the listed iOS and Android technology stacks.
