Data Engineering Technical Lead - VP (Databricks)

Location: HQ - San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $125,000–$150,000 per year, plus eligible discretionary cash and restricted stock unit bonus targets of 10% each.

What you will do

• Modernize SSIS and SSRS workloads into modular, high-performance cloud-native pipelines using Databricks, dbt, Fivetran, and Airflow.
• Design reusable ingestion, transformation, curation, and consumption patterns for the enterprise Lakehouse.
• Lead proofs of concept and points of view for technologies such as Delta Live Tables, Iceberg, streaming ingestion, and AI-driven observability.
• Use AI-assisted tools for code generation, testing, documentation, observability, and pipeline optimization.
• Apply predictive models to detect pipeline anomalies and data drift while optimizing compute and scheduling.
• Drive CI/CD, version control, peer reviews, observability, performance tuning, and cost optimization across Azure and GCP.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related technical fields, including 3+ years in a lead or senior role.
• Experience designing CDC, SCD, Medallion, Data Vault, streaming, and batch data patterns.
• Deep expertise with Databricks, Apache Spark, dbt, Fivetran, Census, Airflow, and Kafka.
• Experience with Azure and/or GCP services such as Synapse, Data Factory, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub.
• SQL proficiency and programming experience in Python, Scala, or Java, plus hands-on legacy ETL modernization and POC/POV development.
• Strong architectural thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills for translating technical topics to business stakeholders.
