Senior Application Engineer (Python/JavaScript)

Location: Hybrid in Vienna, Virginia, or Pensacola, Florida, United States

Salary: $111,600–$163,100 annually

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize software applications throughout the full software development lifecycle.
• Translate business and stakeholder requirements into technical specifications and scalable solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable code and implement efficient data structures and algorithms.
• Build and deploy microservices in cloud environments, including containerized workloads.
• Diagnose application functionality, performance, and quality issues, including advanced troubleshooting and testing.
• Lead small projects, conduct code reviews, mentor colleagues, and contribute to engineering standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• 5–7 years of experience in application or software development engineering.
• Advanced knowledge of software development principles, Agile and Twelve-Factor methodologies, and version control systems.
• Expertise in Python, JavaScript with Spring Boot, HTML, CSS, modern frameworks, web technologies, databases, and microservices.
• Experience with containerization and cloud deployment, preferably Azure Kubernetes Service in Microsoft Azure, as well as cloud key management, certificate stores, and application configuration services.
• Strong skills in observability, alerting, software testing, quality assurance, troubleshooting, technical communication, and customer support tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman.
