Penetration Tester (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid role in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States; candidates must reside in or be within commuting distance of Albuquerque.

Salary: $90,000+ annually, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Conduct penetration tests and vulnerability assessments across computer systems, networks, infrastructure, and web applications.
• Identify and exploit vulnerabilities using manual testing techniques, automated tools, and established methodologies.
• Research and develop prototype tools for automated cybersecurity testing and security data analytics.
• Analyze results, maintain detailed documentation, and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.
• Participate in red team exercises and simulate real-world attack scenarios using the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
• Collaborate with developers, system administrators, network engineers, operations teams, and clients on remediation, secure configurations, presentations, and project delivery.

Requirements

• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; current or future employment visa sponsorship is not available.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 2–5 years of experience in penetration testing and vulnerability assessments focused on web applications, networks, and infrastructure.
• Programming or scripting experience with Python, Bash, or Rust.
• Knowledge of penetration testing tools, frameworks, and operating systems, including Kali Linux, Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, and Wireshark.
• Understanding of common vulnerabilities, attack vectors, mitigation techniques, and standards such as OWASP Top 10, CVE, CWE, SANS, OSSTMM, and NIST.

Nice to have

• GIAC, OSCP, OSEP, HTB, CEH, CompTIA Pentest+, CRTP, CRTE, or equivalent security certifications.
