Graduate Intern - Engineering Infrastructure

Location: San Jose, California, United States only

Salary: $90,000–$100,000 USD annually for the Bay Area California.

What you will do

• Support physical data center, colocation, and laboratory hardware operations, including rack and stack, cabling, cable management, and labeling.
• Assist with bare-metal server imaging, Linux and Windows installation, provisioning, and initial network configuration.
• Use Ansible or Puppet to automate routine administration, configuration management, and server staging workflows.
• Perform basic Linux and Windows administration, host monitoring, connectivity troubleshooting, and faulty component replacement.
• Assist with AWS, VPC networking, and Terraform-based infrastructure deployment under senior engineer guidance.
• Maintain rack elevation diagrams, cabling maps, inventory logs, and lab capacity documentation.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least one year of relevant experience or coursework in systems administration, networking, infrastructure engineering, data center operations, or cloud infrastructure.
• Foundational knowledge of Linux and/or Windows administration.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, routing, and network connectivity.
• Exposure to server hardware, data center infrastructure, physical networking, scripting, automation, or configuration management.
• Academic transcript or grade sheet is required with the application.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and VPC networking.
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS, storage networking, or NetApp storage architectures.
• Experience writing Bash or Python scripts and administering Linux servers.
• Academic or project experience with data center infrastructure, HPC systems, networking labs, or enterprise IT infrastructure.
