CAD Designer, Senior (Plate Structures)

What you will do

• Produce detailed drawings for customer approval, fabrication, and construction according to design codes, company standards, and customer specifications.
• Check and sign off drawings and bills of material, ensuring accuracy, safety, and constructability for field erection.
• Compare drawings and bills of material with as-sold estimates and advise the project team about discrepancies and changes.
• Run programs for producing and checking drawings and bills of material while committing to realistic deadlines.
• Make project-specific design decisions and collaborate with project engineers, designers, engineers, and managers.
• Mentor less experienced plate structures designers and suggest improvements to tools and workflows.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• A required two-year technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Technology.
• Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D CAD using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of steel detailing practices and applicable industry standards.
• Skills in geometry, trigonometry, unit conversions, quantity take-offs, and basic bills of material.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage tight deadlines.
